In the summer of 1981 the hallowed Fellows Park pitch saw Birmingham’s very own UB40 headline an all day rock and reggae concert, the first time Walsall FC had organised such an event. Several bands took to the stage in this concert which lasted from 2pm to 10pm. Around 5,000 music fans turned up. Tickets cost £4.50 and Walsall Football Club made around £2,000 from this venture. Police and councillors were inundated from local residents who complained about noise levels.
